Pride Dress

Image
I was asked to recreate the following dress for my friend Jim in time for London Pride. It looks like a fairly simple dress to make. however i've never made a dress before. I didn't have much time either. Pride was on the 8th July, I was at Glastonbury 24th-29th June, then in Paris 3rd-7th July, so I had to try and fit it in between these dates I decided on Vogue pattern V8805 to use as a base pattern and changed it as I see fit.     The material was from Dalston Mill Fabrics, and this was the result after a few amendments.       Ostrich feathers were then added.         And the final result. Hawaiian Shirt

When I made the waistcoat, James suggested that I should try making a shirt. As I always like a challenge I thought why not. He measured me up and created a pattern, and then guided me through step by step. The material I bought from crafty-tex-style on ebay. Not bad for my first attempt;

Zip Skirt

The next theme for Cybil's House was teenage dirtbag. It wasn't one of my favorite themes, but I went with it, and looking for inspiration on the internet I thought about doing this; I was originally going to make it out of some of the faux leather I had left over. But that turned out to be a disaster, i'm not even going to post a picture here! So instead I went with a leather skirt that I already had and just add the zips. It's not my best work (or look) but it was kind of OK.
